Merry Christmas, Deer Friends!

As many of you probably know about me by now, I have a fondness for whimsy, and that often shows through in my handmade card designs. It seems that every Christmas season, my cardmaking takes a twist into the realm of whimsy. . . . And what speaks whimsy at Christmastime more than REINDEER?

There has always been something "magical" to me about reindeer. The image of Santa Claus flying through the air on Christmas Eve, in a sleigh pulled by eight "tiny reindeer" is indelibly etched in my mind from childhood.

And even after I realized, at a fairly young age, that this vision was
probably more fantasy than reality (Yes, there's a part of me that still wants to believe in Santa and his reindeer!), Christmastime still conjures up for me various images of sweet whimsical reindeer. . . . . so my card creations from year to year invariably include a few reindeer designs.

Tomorrow, I have planned a more serious post, but tonight, I'm giving in once again to my penchant for whimsy, and using some of my previous card designs to illustrate this Christmas Eve blog post, which I'm dedicating to all of YOU, my fellow bloggers, blog followers, and friends.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, DEER FRIENDS!

And this last photo, although not of a handmade card design, is of my very FAVORITE reindeer!

Until we meet again . . . . May You Never Lose Your Sense of Wonder.

Happy Mother's Day!

It's Mother's Day!

And in honor of this very special day, I'm dedicating today's blog post to all my fellow bloggers, followers and friends who are mothers. . . . .

Some of you may be mothers in the most traditional sense, and will likely be celebrating this special day in the company of your children and/or grandchildren.

And yet others of you may be mothers in a less traditional sense, with beloved pets in the household who look to you as their "mom"!

But whatever your particular maternal role or roles might be . . . .

I'd like to wish you all a Very Happy Mother's Day!

Happy ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Lee and I arrived home from our Southwest vacation late yesterday afternoon, just in time to rescue Harley from the "doggie hotel" before it closed at 6 p.m.!

So now we're all home. . .happy, safe and sound, and ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

I think I might have mentioned before that St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite "holidays" for cardmaking.

Unfortunately, due to our travel plans this year, I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to make a lot of St. Patrick's Day cards, but I was able to make a few before we left.

Over the years, I've collected a number of Irish Blessings from a variety of sources, and I often use these on my cards. I love the wonderful lilt of the old traditional Irish Blessings, as well as the beautiful thoughts they convey.

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I'd like to share a few card designs that I've developed over the past few years, several of which incorporate some favorite Irish blessings from my rather eclectic collection.

I think I found this Irish Blessing on a purchased (birthday) card that was given to my mother-in-law one year.

This Irish Blessing is probably my all time favorite, and one that I'm sure you'll recognize too!

I can't remember where I found this one, but it's another of my favorites.

I actually found the above saying on a coffee cup that I gave one of my Irish friends a number of years ago for St. Patrick's Day. You may have to double click on this photo to enlarge it in order to read the words on this "blessing" It's quite tongue-in-cheek, but it's always given me a chuckle!

And I'm including this last featured card, just for fun! No Irish blessing on this one, just a rather cute (if I do say so myself) whimsical paper pieced cat. It was a hit on eBay a couple of years ago!

Here's Wishing You All a Wonderful St. Patrick's Day! (And don't forget to wear GREEN today.)

Until we meet again . . . .May the luck of the Irish be with you.

A Touch of Halloween Whimsy......

I'm winding up my week of "Halloween" themed items, with one of my own creations, a hand drawn, hand cut, and paper pieced whimsical witch card.

This card is one of my personal favs from my own repertoire of Halloween card designs. I don't have one made up right now, but time-permitting, I hope to do a similar card design with this little witch sometime before Halloween this year.

I LOVE the quote by Flavia, "Today you can be anything you can imagine"......On that note, let me bid you all a Happy Monday, September 8th! (Only 53 days until Halloween!)

I'm still pondering the theme for my upcoming Blog posts this week and next, but I hope you'll check back and be pleasantly surprised.......
